Using webmail from ABC

Post by abctech »

Some people use webmail systems like GoogleMail, FreeServe, HotMail, etc, and normally you use a browser (like Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox) to read and send emails.

ABC6 uses MAPI to send emails (for example to email Invoices or Statements to customers) and cannot talk directly to webmail systems. However, if you have a suitable email client installed on your computer, ABC can use this to send the emails. It is likely there that many programs will work, however we have tested using Mozilla Thunderbird (a free email program we use and recommend), and here are step by step instructions.

1. Install Mozilla Thunderbird (if you do not already have it).
2. Create an Account and point this to your webmail service. eg GMail. Enter your username and password, and check this works OK and you can read and send emails using this.
3. Tick the box to make this Account the default Account.

That's all.

Now when you try to email from ABC, it should automatically go via this Thunderbird account to your webmail.
(There is no question about ABC that we can't answer :-)
