Location of payroll data files

Post by abctech »

In response to your suggestions, we have altered the way ABC6 Payroll starts up. Here's how it works now:

As ABC6 Payroll starts up, it scans all hard drives attached to your computer (local and network) looking for the main payroll database. It searches the drive letters C, D, E, F,....Z. in that order. When it finds it, this location is used for all data access in this session.

This means you can have the Payroll data files located on your central server, and use the Payroll from any workstation. Note that ABC6 is NOT multi-user and we have no plans to make it so. ie. two workstations must not edit payroll data at the same time.

Or you can have ABC6 installed on drive C, and your data files on drive D or F (maybe F could be a USB memory stick -- we have not yet tested this idea).

If you want to do this, contact us -- we'll tell you the best (and only :-) way to proceed.)

And if like most of us, you simply install ABC6 Payroll on drive C as normal, everything will work as before.
(There is no question about ABC that we can't answer :-)
