Error NTVDM or 16-bit DOS subsystem

Post by abctech »

If you install ABC5 on a new computer you may get an error message similar to the above when you try to run ABC5. It usually just means you need to tick a box in some Windows properties to allow this DOS program to run.

Mike Mitchell has found that an easy way around it is to right-click on the ABC5 desktop icon, select the Compatibility tab, and tell Windows to use Compatibility with Windows98 when running ABC5. And also set ABC5 to run in a Window and NOT full screen.

(And if you install ABC5 on a new PC, you probably also want to install our Big Screen ABC5 utility to allow you to set the ABC5 Window size as large as you wish. You can get this complete with instructions from our website).
(There is no question about ABC that we can't answer :-)
