New Report Designer

Post by abctech »

Version ABC6.331 includes a rewritten Report Designer. Compared to the previous version there are some major differences (though it still looks similar on screen).

There are now buttons across the top of the layout to add Column title, Totals, etc. Column Titles and Footers now have their own sections, and you can move items around and change their properties in the same way you always could with the report body (ie. right-click on an item).

You can have up to 9 Totals in a report. Each Total can be a Sum, Average, or Count.

- Count -- the number of records printed
- Sum -- the total value of the fields or calculated fields
- Average -- the Sum divide by the Count

For each Datafield or CalculatedField on the report, you can specify (use Properties) which Total it is to be added to (1 to 9).
In the footer you can add TotalFields, and specify for each one which Total it is to show, and what Type of total (eg. Sum or Average).

The total fields can be placed anywhere in the Footer section. You can also add text labels in the footer to describe or explain each Total field if you wish.

You can set the number of Decimal Places for Amounts.

NOTE: We have changed the structure of the ReportLayouts database and supplied a new database with this update. Hence any reports you may previously have designed will no longer be shown. If you have a lot of work invested in those reports, contact ABC Software and we can copy the old reports into the new database for you (though some adjustments will still be required). I think that in most cases it will easier to just recreate the reports in the new designer.
(There is no question about ABC that we can't answer :-)
